oil towns
When I envisioned myself living & working from home in the mountains, I did not anticipate how many hours I would spend driving to do errands. Luckily I love to drive (all back roads), so my lil sapphire Saabaru has become my secret karaoke machine... @ 35 mpg. Weekly I visit the red-neck villa of TAFT, California for groceries, banking & services. There is good mexican food on the main drag at La Mina, plus a DMV that is never crowded & only a hand full of traffic lights. A 40 mile drive that is totally worth it, due to great sunsets, amazing countryside scenery & Cerro Noroeste.
